NYC's storied past with affordable housing has been one for the books. Truman Management plays an integral role in making sure project-based section-8 properties are clean, safe, and well-maintained.
Because Truman sells their service to the landlord, not the end-user, I knew its brand required a refreshing mix of straigh-talk, integrity, and feeling.
I felt an altruistic, mission-driven brand would resonate. Research and conversations validated that: landlords truly did care for their tenants, and continued to run these properties from an altruistic point-of-view. At the same time, they couldn't go into debt running the property -- and so Truman's ability to make sure there were no violations, and the building truly was well-managed, made a tremendous difference to these landlords. And so I married the two, positioning Truman as caretaker to the concept, with landlords as equal partner in this vital mission.
It meant so much to play a part in keeping affordable housing properties safe.
